About University Reformed Church
Who are we?

We are a church—not a social club, nor a political organization, nor an entertainment center, but a church. So what does that mean? We believe every church, in any time at any place, should be characterized by a number of basic elements: corporate worship, expository preaching, missions and evangelism, fellowship, mercy ministry, discipleship, and prayer. These categories of church life are not rigid and can be described in several different ways. At URC, we describe the elements of being a church like this:

University Reformed Church is a Christ-centered, Bible based, mission minded, burden-bearing, mercy-ministering,pilgrim people who are passionately and prayerfully committed to making much of God in all of life.

What are we about?

Who we are tells us what we are about to a large extent. But this question gets more specific. What is URC called to do that may not be the calling for other churches? How does our location, history, and personnel make us different than a church in downtown Lansing, or Williamston, or Detroit, or New York, or Amsterdam, or Nairobi? What is unique about URC? In other words, what is our mission?

This is our mission statement at URC:
A Bible-teaching church in prayer for each other, the campus, the nations, and the world.
