My Occupation: I work as an accountant for the Michigan Primary Care Association (a nonprofit organization in Lansing).

Memorable Bible Verse:  "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night."  --- Psalm 1:1-2

About Me / My Family: I am a 26-year-old native of the Lansing area (Holt, to be exact) and was raised in this church by godly parents (Tim & Sue), for whom I am exceedingly thankful. I have three younger sisters (Lynne, Erin, & Marcy) who are a great joy to me and I love them dearly. I currently live in East Lansing with my long-time friend Scott Lawton.

At heart, I am an athlete and a musician. Basketball, ultimate Frisbee, hiking, singing, guitar, and trumpet have been some of my notable interests. I love to use these sorts of things in and for ministry, which is a large part of the reason why I spent two of my college summers working for Christian youth camps.

One Fun Fact about Myself: If I had been a girl, my parents would have named my Allison.

What Christ Means to Me: I believe that Jesus is the only Son of the only God. He is one with God and, in fact, is God. He came to earth as a man (making him fully God and fully man) and lived a sinless life … the only sinless life that has ever been lived and the only one that will ever be lived. I was born a sinner and deserve to die a sinner's death because no speck of sin can enter the eternally holy presence of God. But Jesus Christ willingly died on the cross that should have been mine and, insodoing, pacified the righteous wrath of God toward me. Then he made it known that death could not defeat him. He rose from the dead, appeared to many witnesses, and ascended into heaven where he is seated at the right hand of his Father, God. One day he will return to earth in great glory and every knee will bow before him … every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

I must cling desperately and joyfully to Jesus because he is my only hope for full, true, and eternal life … and that hope is a glorious hope! In Jesus Christ is my new and true identity, because his righteousness and sinlessness were conferred upon me when he died in my place on the cross. He traded his perfect life for my hell-worthy life. He is worthy to be worshiped and I will worship him gladly. In fact, I must worship him … he commands it, but his commands are not burdensome. They are trustworthy, they give joy to the heart, they revive the soul, they give light to the eyes, they are sweeter than honey and more precious than gold. They are meant for my fullest good (see Psalm 19). Jesus Christ is the greatest treasure that can ever be sought … may our words and actions bear witness to that truth!
